In 1987 we built a home on a lake and installed a two furnace closed loop water source heat pump system. We were told that the loop filled with a mixture of anti freeze and water would never go below 55 degrees and the saving from getting heat and cold from water would far exceed air to air systems.Over the 32yrs, we have had to replace 3 heat pumps & a second loop.

It involves dealing with separate furnace & loop firms. There are a limited no. of knowledgeable professionals. High costs for service far exceed savings.

In 2018 I hired SE Geothermal to replace a furnace that the R 22 freon (which the Gvt no longer approves) had leaked out. They took 3 months to do job, did not honor contract-wanted $1,000 more at completion. Furnace stopped working a few weeks after installation. Was referred to Geo Loop Systems who replaced 2 leaky fittings and refilled loop with plain water(no Glycol) at cost of$750 and the water in loop is now freezing.

and neither furnace works I have paid them and additional $350 and $250. In the past 8 month I have spent $14,229.95 and still do not have a working system. Geo loop is proposing to float loop at cost of $2500 which they think is covered with mud. I know that is not the problem because the lake at my end is 60 feet deep and they were negligent in not putting any kind of anti freeze into the loop.

Other heating systems have improved. I do not recommend this system.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Waterfurnace Pros: Response to my problems.

Waterfurnace Cons: Extra repair costs.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

So once again the equipment was to blame !!! Nope , It was the installer that you should have gotten references about !!!!! Before you signed the contract !!!

It sounds like the customers issue is with SE Geothermal and Geoloop. Im still waiting to see why this customer is upset with Waterfurnace?

Customers that make bad choices in who they choose to work with and low ball them on pricing get exactly what they pay for. It sounds to me like the customer may want to take their complaints to the installing contractors and not the equipment manufacturer.

I could buy a Lamborghini and put diesel fuel in it. Is it justifiable for me to complain that Lamborghini is junk due to something Lamborghini had nothing to do with?

This is not a case of choosing the wrong vender, Water Furnace products are not reliable, and the tech is far behind conventional air to air systems. If Water Furnace built better hardware and better customer service they would have far less issues.

I read 89% of units fail from time of installation to within 2 years. These failures require many parts to fix that are not all covered under warranty.
